CMAT and Company "Better Today Than Yesterday" |

NETWORKING Everyone in CMAT and Company needs to know networking principles. Without networking the CMAT Lab can not operate. Files used to compile products are too large to put on floppy disks and then carried from one computer to another. They can be burned (written) unto CDs but not every computer in the lab has that capability. All computers in the CMAT Lab have Ethernet boards and have been wired to hubs at each of the five work areas. File transfer traffic is low enough to support peer to peer networking. Additionally, websites and the school net are useful tools of production. There are 6 LAB NETS: Five peer to peer LANs: TEAMA TEAMB TEAMC TEAMD TEAME And one school net at: www.irvingisd.net (For web page add /~cshafer.) For more on networks available see CMAT LAN and Team A through Team E team nets are used to transfer files from one work group to another (i.e. WA2, 3D Studio Max, to WA3, Director.) Separate team peer to peer LANs reduce inter team file raids. Inter division file raid, with in a given team identifier (Team A, Team B, etc.) are still possible.
The CMAT Lab net is used by the Executive Producer/Net Administrator to provide back up file capability and to access work area computers.

(Control Team will store captured files on main hard drive as back up should team raiding or other disaster occur.)
