Dominic Powell was born in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Powell began playing the trombone in the sixth grade as a student in the Garland I.S.D. band programs, and continued his study of Music Education at the Oberlin College Conservatory (1997-2001), graduating with a B.M. of Music Education, with a concentration on Trombone Performance. |

Although Mr. Powell's early accomplishments in music were on the trombone, he completed a Master's Degree in Music Education (Strings & Conducting emphasis) in August 2008 at Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music (Evanston, IL). |
Mr. Powell's background in orchestra began with his performances in the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, in which he participated in the 1996 Tour of France under the direction of Richard Gianguilio. Since that time,he has performed in bands, orchestras, jazz, small ensembles, and in church music ministry. |
