Every Monday your child will bring home a list of 20 spelling words that he or she should study during the week. The final test will be given to students on the following Friday. All words on weekly lists will follow a common spelling pattern or rule. The weekly spelling list will come home every Friday with a Spelling Activity Contract. Spelling Activity Contract I included in your information packet a list of activities that students can pick from to practice their spelling words at home each week. Each week your child will be responsible for completing spelling activities. Each activity is worth a certain number of points, from 10 to 30. Students will be responsible for the activities they choose, which in turn makes them responsible for the grade they receive. For example, if a student chooses to complete a 10 pt., 20 pt., a 30 pt., and a 30 pt. activity, his/her grade will be an 90 or an A. The attached page is a list of the spelling activity choices, as well as the points earned for each activity. Each activity needs to be done on a separate sheet of paper, stapled to the Spelling Activity Contract with the points totaled up for the week and turned in on Friday (the day of the final spelling test) |
