Parents, I am so excited to be teaching your child! I know that fourth grade is going to be a great year! There are so many fun things to do and learn in fourth grade, and I can't wait to get started! You are cordially invited to be a partner in your child’s education. Stay-Tuned: Ask your child what he or she is studying. Look at and sign their homework log, located in their Red Take Home Folder every night. This folder is also important because this is where you will find important papers from the school and me. On Thursdays I will send home graded papers. I will also send home progress reports or make phone calls if I feel that there are any concerns or kudos you need to know about. Ask Questions: If you have any concerns or are wondering why something is happening, please feel free to call or email me at any time. I welcome all concerns, ideas, and feedback that affect your child or our classroom. If something is not working, I am more than willing to talk. I welcome all feedback. Homework: You should expect that your child will have some type of homework most everyday. You will always find the homework assignments written on the homework log that is kept in their Red Take Home Folder. It should go home everyday. I encourage you to set up a scheduled time for homework each day. Students should be able to do most assignments independently, but do help if it is completely necessary. If you notice that your child is not able to do an assignment on his or her own, please send a note or jot a note to me on the assignment. I will contact you if your child is falling behind or turning in poor work. Snack: All students may bring a nutritious snack and a bottle of water to school everyday. Please also give me a heads up at least a day ahead of time if your child is planning to bring a treat for his or her birthday. Arrival/Departure Time: I also would like to request that students arrive at school no earlier than 7:00am and are picked up no later than 3:00pm. It is not safe for them to be hanging around with no supervision. If there any problems please let me know. Sincerely, Kristina Birge oho |
