PBL: Goals and Objectives

Goals

The broader objectives, aim, or goals for

the unit plan are to have the students work coopera

tively in groups to design and implement a plan to cul

tivate the courtyard. The students will work in

groups to complete the task of cultivating the court

yard. They will gain mathematic and science skills in

the process of this plan. My goals for this unit for to

oversee that students see the importance of planning,

researching, and implement a design that will solve

the courtyard cultivation. Another goal that I have is

that the students transfer previous information to help

them solve their problem. I expect my students to be

able to work out the details, including the kinks, and

design a courtyard with the amount of money given

that will be accessible to every student and teacher at

the school.

Objectives

The students will be able to plan a design that will cul

tivate the courtyard. Students will be required to come

up with a design and purpose for the courtyard. The

students will be able to figure out the costs to the ma

terials they need and they will need to measure the pe

rimeters and areas of the courtyard for the function of

their project. The students will need to be able to in

troduce flowers to the courtyard and implement a plan

to take care of the courtyard. The criteria on the basis

of which satisfactory attainment of the objectives will

be judged is a complete and functioning courtyard.

The students will be assessed to the degree of which

plan works the best for the school. The students will

demonstrate that they have learned and understood

the objectives of the lesson by presenting a solution for

the problem.

The students will create a Power Point to show what

they have learned throughout the process. The stu

dents will give a report on their findings, along with

measurements, and costs of the materials and supplies

needed. The students will construct a mock version of

their courtyard and present their version along with

the Power Point they’ve created. They will instruct the

class on how the courtyard will be maintained.
