Here are some Haiku poems my children did as a culminating activity for a poetry unit we did in English. During the unit we learned about similes, metaphor and imagery but what makes these poems even more impressive is when one takes into account that these poems were written in the children's second language. You can definitely see that I have some poets in my class. How many people can say that they can write poetry in two languages? I am very proud of them.
You can see their work on this page: Haiku poems
Take a look at these PowerPoint presentations. This was an assignment in which all students went on a geometry hunt and took pictures with a digital camera of different 3D shapes that they saw in the real world. The students then took their pictures and developed their PowerPoint presentations.
In this section you can see writing samples of my children. At present I have just started to put samples in and they are in English. Later I will post them in Spanish.
I am always excited to hear from former students. One former student has made me extremely proud. Take a look at what she wrote in English just after having been here in the States for a little more than two years. She is currently in a fifth grade bilingual class. I am glad she remembered her third grade teacher and it is always a pleasure to have such fine, dedicated students in my class.
