*Here is a list of cognates that my kids have been working with since the beginning of the year. This list comes from their English reading program, Scholastic's Transitions Program. I will also be adding cognates that I feel are important for them to learn. Really, what I teach my children is that they already know all the academic, high level vocabulary that monolingual English speaking children are still learning. Since Spanish is Latin based, all of the high level English vocabulary that many times is Latin based is already vocabulary that Spanish bilinguals know. It is just a question of making the connection. Thus, we have our list to remind us of these words. My words plus the words from the English series are mixed.
* Still a work in progress.
