Introduction | Task | Process | Resources | Evaluation | Conclusion
I am sorry that you are unable to participate in our activities due to your injury/illness. I hope that you get well soon. However, in the meantime, I need your help. I need you to become an expert on a sport of your choosing so that when we learn the sport in PE you can help me teach it to your classmates.
You are to choose a sport that you want to learn more about. You will use the Sports Quest worksheet that will guide you in gathering the information you need. After gathering the information, you will create a document to report your findings. Your report will need to have the following information along with graphic images of equipment, uniforms, and playing surfaces.
- The name of the sport.
- History of the sport. Who invented it, when was it invented, and where was it invented?
- A general description of how to play the sport and the basic rules. How long is the game?
- What are the player positions used in the sport?
- What are some of the skills needed to play the sport?
- Name and define some of the special terminology used in the sport.
- Click here to open the Sports Quest worksheet which will help guide you in gathering the information you need. Print the page out and write your information on it.
- Decide which sport you would like to learn more about. What do you already know about that sport?
- Using the provided resources, search the Web sites for the required information.
- Create a document to report what you have learned.
You are to use the following Web sites as resources to collect the information that you need. On the sites, you will find the information that you are required to find. You will also find images of equipment, uniforms, and playing surfaces to copy for your report. When you copy images from any Web site, you need to document that site so that it is credited for the image.
Your report will be evaluated on the following criteria:
I hope you have enjoyed learning about your chosen sport. Did you teach yourself enough about the sport that you could help the teacher answer questions about that sport when other students ask?
