Irving ISD provides comprehensive and progressive quality instruction for students at all levels in the areas of physical, social and emotional well-being, giving them the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to live a happy, healthy, physically active life now and in the future.
Swim Safe is an eight day, in-school free aquatic program offered to all 2nd grade students in Irving ISD. The goal of the Swim Safe program is to introduce basic water safety and swimming strokes so they may develop confidence and competence in these important life skills. All 20 elementary school participate in Swim Safe.
Swim Academy extends swimming skills and water safety for middle school students. The Academy also encourages students to join swim and water polo teams, lifeguarding, teaching swimming and swimming for fitness. The Middle School Swim Academy is a free, after-school program offered at all Irving ISD middle schools.
Irving ISD Pool School is a year-round, fee-based aquatic program for Irving ISD families focused on water safety and Irving ISD Pool Schools is a year-round, fee-based aquatic swimming skills. Irving ISD aquatics programs are part of the Make a Splash Program. The USA Swimming Foundation’s Make a Splash initiative is a national child-focused water safety campaign, which aims to provide the opportunity for every child in America to learn to swim.
