Why have a safety committee?
The purpose of the committee is to help improve the safety and health of our employees and the conditions of our work environments and campuses.
If I join a departmental safety committee, how much of my time am I expected to commit?
The committees meet once a month to:
- Review accidents that have occurred within the department.
- Analyze causes.
- Recommend corrections.
- Report findings at department/staff meetings.
Meetings typically last 45 minutes to 1 hour (depending on the number of accidents to be reviewed).
What is the incentive for participating in a safety committee?
Each month, there will be a random drawing for a $25 gift card. This drawing will include the name of each committee member present for the meeting.
