Orchestra
-
The MHS Orchestra is a group of highly-talented student musicians who share a passion for music and performance. The orchestra is open to all students with previous middle school experience or by audition. Students also have the opportunity to participate in small ensembles, private lessons, masterlcasses or in the MacArthur Quartet, which is asked to play at many district and area functions throughout the year.

How is orchestra different from band?
Orchestra is similar to a band, but the key difference is the types of instruments played. A band is an ensemble of wind instruments with a percussion section. An orchestra is an ensemble with sections of bowed string instruments (violin, cello, viola, etc.)
