    These pages are provided to help you successfully navigate all of the steps to college and career readiness. For more information about preparing for graduation, visit your school counselor to create your personal roadmap with their support and guidance.

First Semester

  • ► Meet with your counselor early in the fall semester. Are you in the right courses and close to completing your endorsement(s)?
    ► September: attend the Irving ISD College and Career Night.
    ► Research colleges and careers using Campus2Careers (C2C). Examine educational opportunities and college admission requirements, discussing your plans and options with your parents and counselor.
    ► October: take the PSAT.  Scoring well on the test can lead to scholarships!

Second Semester

  • ► April: take the SAT at school.
    ► Take the TSI (Texas Success Initiative) exam - you may qualify for Dual Credit classes.
    ► With your counselor, review your graduation plan. Be sure you sign up for all of the courses you need to graduate, complete your endorsement(s) and be prepared for work or college. Do you meet the requirements of the colleges you are considering?
    ► Visit colleges and talk to college students.
    ► Take and pass your last EOC exam!

Throughout the Year

  • ► Attend school every day!
    ► Maintain a calendar for taking tests and completing college resumes and applications.
    ► Focus on communication, time management, problem-solving and work quality skills.
    ► Continue to update your C2C profile, inventories and resume.
    ► Meet with college representatives and check the school website for scholarship opportunities.
