    These pages are provided to help you successfully navigate all of the steps to college and career readiness. For more information about preparing for graduation, visit your school counselor to create your personal roadmap with their support and guidance.

First Semester

  • ► Meet with your counselor right away - you must be in the right classes!  
    ► Complete applications for college admissions, scholarships and housing.
    ► Ask teachers, community members and employers for letters of recommendation. Give them a resume and plenty of time to write your letter.
    ► Continue final research on colleges and jobs using Campus2Careers (C2C).
    ► September: attend the Irving ISD College and Career Night.
    ► September: take the ACT at school.
    ► With your parents, attend all financial aid information sessions available.
    ► Make final revisions on C2C Profile, resume and inventories. Be prepared to apply for jobs and other opportunities.
    ► Register with C2C – Post Graduate.
    ► Complete industry certifications.
    ► Retake SAT or ACT in the fall, if needed.

Second Semester

  • ► January/February: with your parents, complete the FAFSA for financial aid. Workshops will be available to assist families with the FAFSA application.
    ► Keep in touch with your counselor to provide updates on college acceptances and scholarship awards. Keep applying!
    ► May: complete all necessary paperwork for graduation and final transcripts.
