The 2026 Election for Board of Trustees for Single Member Districts 1 and 2 is scheduled to take place on May 2, 2026.
A School Board Trustee representing Single Member District 1 is to be elected on May 2, 2026 to serve a term of three (3) years.
A School Board Trustee representing Single Member District 2 is to be elected on May 2, 2026 to serve a term of three (3) years.
Irving ISD Board of Trustee Elections are conducted in May of each year in accordance with the Texas Secretary of State Uniform General Election Date and Board Policy BBB(Local).
First day to file for a place on the general election ballot is Wednesday, January 14, 2026
Last day to file for a place on the general election ballot is Friday, February 13, 2026 at 5 PM.
The deadline to file a declaration of write-in candidacy is February 17, 2026 at 5 PM.
Applications will be made available Monday, January 12, 2026

Eligibility Requirements
Qualified Voter
A person may not be elected trustee of an independent school district unless the person is a qualified voter. Education Code 11.061(b)
“Qualified voter” means a person who:
- Is 18 years of age or older;
- Is a United States citizen;
- Has not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote;
- Has not been finally convicted of a felony [see also Atty. Gen. Op. LO 96-114 (1996) (concluding that caveat at Election Code 11.002 does not mitigate blanket prohibition in Election Code 141.001, above at Eligibility)];
- Is a resident of this state; and
- Is a registered voter.

Candidate Eligibility
To be eligible to be a candidate for, or elected or appointed to, the office of school board member, a person must:
- Be a United States citizen.
- Be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election or on the date of appointment, as applicable.
- Have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
- Have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities.
- Have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the territory from which the office is elected for six months immediately preceding the following date:
- For an independent candidate, the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate's application for a place on the ballot.
- For a write-in candidate, the date of the election at which the candidate's name is written in.
- For an appointee to an office, the date the appointment is made.
- Be registered to vote in the territory from which the office is elected on the date described above.

Residency
A person may not be elected trustee of an independent school district unless the person has had residency in the state for at least 12 months and 6 in the territory.
“Residence” means domicile, one’s home and fixed place of habitation to which one intends to return after any temporary absence; one does not lose one’s residence status by leaving to go to another place for temporary purposes only. A person does not acquire a residence in a place to which the person has come for temporary purposes only and without the intention of making that place the person's home. Residence shall be determined in accordance with the common-law rules, as enunciated by the courts of this state, except as otherwise provided by the Election Code. Election Code 1.015
Single-Member Districts
A candidate for board member representing a single-member district must be a resident of the district the candidate seeks to represent. Education Code 11.052(g)

On May 1, 2021, Irving ISD will elect a trustee for each of the following single-member districts:
- District 3
- District 4
A School Board Trustee representing Single Member District 3 is to be elected on May 1, 2021 to serve a term of three (3) years.
A School Board Trustee representing Single Member District 4 is to be elected on May 1, 2021 to serve a term of three (3) years.

Candidates interested in filing an application for a place on the ballot can file their application the 30th day before the filing deadline. The filing deadline for a general election is 5 p.m. on the 78th day before the election day. The deadline to file a declaration of write-in candidacy is 5 p.m. on the 74th day before the election.

NOTICE OF DRAWING FOR PLACE ON THE BALLOT
Notice is hereby given that a drawing will be held on the 22th day of February, 2021
at 2:00 o’clock, p.m., in the Administration Building Boardroom, 2621 W. Airport Freeway, Irving, Texas for the purpose of determining the order in which the names of candidates are to be printed on the ballot in the Irving Independent School District Trustee Election to be held on the 1st day of May, 2021.
Candidates are not required to attend the drawing. However, the candidates are welcome to attend this drawing if you wish to do so, or have a representative present at the drawing. The Public is also welcome to attend

On April 27, 2020, the Board of Trustees of the Irving Independent School District adopted resolution 19-20-08, ording the November 3, 2020 election.
On April 1, 2020, the Board of Trustees of the Irving Independent School District adopted resolution 19-20-07, canceling the May 2, 2020 election due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We will update the public with any additional information as it comes available.
On November 3, 2020, Irving ISD will elect a trustee for each of the following single-member districts:
- District 1
- District 2

2019 Election Information
2019 Election Results
Voters who live in Irving ISD’s single-member District 1 elected Rosemary Robbins to serve a one-year term*. Voters in District 3 elected Pam Campbell to serve a two-year term*. Voters in District 3 elected incumbent A.D. Jenkins for a three-year term. Voters in District 6 elected Tony Grimes to serve a three-year term. Incumbent Randy Randle (District 7) was unopposed in this year’s election and will continue his service on the Board in District 7.
* District 1 and 3 term lengths reflect the remaining years, of a 3-year term, following a resignation.
2019 Election Information
On May 4, 2019, Irving ISD will elect a trustee for each of the following single member districts:
- District 1
- District 3
- District 5
- District 6
- District 7
The elected trustee for Single Member District 1 resigned his position on January 14, 2019. An individual must be elected to serve the one-year remaining in the three-year term for Single Member District 1.
The elected trustee for Single Member District 3 resigned his position on July 30, 2018. A new trustee was appointed to serve until an election could be held. Therefore, an individual must be elected to the two remaining years in the three-year term for Single Member District 3.
The Board of Trustees for Irving ISD adopted a redistricting plan establishing seven single member trustee districts on September 22, 2014. Pursuant to that plan and Irving ISD Board policy BBB(LOCAL), in 2019 members must be elected to three-year terms in Single Member District 5, District 6 and District 7.
