About School Nursing

School Nursing in Irving ISD supports student health and learning by promoting safe, healthy school environments across the district. Our school nurses provide professional nursing care, health education, and collaboration with families and staff to remove health-related barriers to learning. Through prevention and early intervention, we help students succeed academically and thrive throughout life.

School Nursing Philosophy

School nurses play a vital role in supporting the health, safety, and well-being of students in Irving ISD. A registered nurse on every campus works to promote a healthy learning environment by assessing actual and potential health concerns, providing medical management, and delivering individualized case management services. Through collaboration with students, families, school staff, and community partners, school nurses help build self-care skills and support students who require nursing services. By providing essential medical care and health counseling, Irving ISD school nurses remove health-related barriers to learning and contribute directly to each student’s academic success.
