Automated External Defibrillator (AEDs)

Texas schools work hard to keep students safe and prepared for medical emergencies. All campuses are equipped with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), which are easy‑to‑use devices that can help save a life during a sudden cardiac emergency. Schools also have a Cardiac Emergency Response Plan (CERP) and trained CERP teams made up of staff members who know how to respond quickly and calmly in an emergency.

All schools participate in Project ADAM, a national school safety program focused on preventing sudden cardiac death through planning, training, and regular practice. To stay prepared, campuses regularly conduct emergency drills so staff know where lifesaving equipment is located and how to work together if an emergency occurs.
