Hearing

Hearing screening in Irving ISD helps determine whether a student’s hearing falls within the normal range by answering a key question: does the child need further evaluation? Screenings are conducted using a pure‑tone sweep check, a quick and noninvasive method in which students wear headphones and respond to a series of tones presented at different frequencies and volumes. This process helps identify potential hearing concerns that may affect speech, communication, and learning. Early detection allows for timely referral to a healthcare provider and supports student success in the classroom.

Hearing is conducted in: PK, K, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th grades, and any new students to Irving ISD.
