Proclamation 2024

Timeline

Subjects/Courses Under Consideration Specific to Irving ISD: Science K-12, CTE ( specific courses,) Technology APPs K-8, and Personal Financial Literacy

During the instructional materials adoption process, Irving ISD is a “closed district” and all adoption-related questions, emails, and communication should be addressed to Judy Boone, Courtney Putman, Nick Gleicher, Jana Claxton or Imelda Little. Teachers should not respond to any inquiries from publishers.


July 18, 2023

Science Review #1

 

By September 5th

Curriculum and Instruction will select the following to attend vendor/publisher presentations:

  • Principal Elementary
  • Principal Secondary
  • Parent
  • Elementary School Science Teacher
  • Middle School Science Teacher
  • High School Science Teacher
  • Bilingual Teacher Kinder-4th

 

October 11th  Nimitz HS Library located at 100 W. Oakdale Rd. Irving, TX 75060

Review #2 

Selected vendors ( from showcase) presentations/samples to the IMA Committee

  • Learning Resources will set up vendor presentations and
  • Request sample copies
  • Vendor TBD based on vote from July Showcase
  • Food will be provided

 

November 5, 2023

  • Closed period begins and will run through February 14, 2023

 

Early December 2023 ( Date TBD 4:30-7:30 Admin. Building)

  • Selected vendors ( from review #2) presentations to IMA Committee
  • District Curriculum Content Teams determine final products/vendors in each area

 

Mid December 2023

Final Selection - District IMA Selection Committee

 

Following Final Review - December 2023

  • Learning Resources will notify vendors and have them send samples for campus/community review starting in January
  • Content Coordinators will select campuses for sample placement

 

January 23, 2023

CTE Review # 1 for Select CTE Courses 

 

January - February 2024

  • Science Instructional Materials on display for public/ teacher review at the campus level for one month
  • Rubrics/Surveys posted for public input
  • Mid January through mid February
  • Teacher online voting

 

Mid-February 2024  

  • Closed period continues and will run through mid-April 2024
  • Mid February 2024
  • Committee reviews teacher voting data
  • Final selections made/confirmed by Curriculum and Instruction IMA Committee Members
  • Presentation data for DIC

 

March/ April

  • Learning Resources will prepare estimates for cost Proclamation 2024 ( will need projections for elementary and pre-enrollment for secondary)
  • Prepare documents and materials for Board approval 
  • Submit Board documents and present selection to the Board (not to exceed statement)

 

May 2024 (when EMAT reopens)

  • Order materials for 2024-2025 school year

 

Late Summer

  • Provide online access to teachers for new instructional materials

 

July-August 2024

  • Training opportunities for teachers
  • Receive and process new materials
  • Order additional materials as needed
  • Distribute new materials to campuses

 

Region 10 Science Pre-Adoption Instructional Materials Showcase Proclamation 2024 takes place on July 18, 2023

ESC 10  will host an Instructional Materials Showcase - Proclamation 2024 on July 18, 2023.  This event will be free to Science Educators and Academic Coordinators and administrators as they prepare to select materials through Proclamation 2024. Publishers with materials up for adoption will showcase their products, answer questions, and provide additional information to assist Districts. Visit this site for more information and to register for the in-person event, during which lunch will be provided.


SBEC and Proclamation 2024

The State Board of Education (SBOE) issued Proclamation 2024 at its April 2022 meeting to call for science, grades K–12; technology applications, grades K–8; Personal Financial Literacy and Economics; and several CTE courses.  The SBOE is scheduled to adopt materials for Proclamation 2024 in November 2023. The adopted materials will go into classrooms in the 2024–25 school year.
