Kelly Giddens, Principal
Mrs. Giddens is honored and enthusiastic about joining the Stipes Elementary Family at Principal. She is excited to collaborate with a strong and dedicated staff to inspire the students at Stipes to achieve their very best!
Mrs. Giddens began her career in public education in 2005 as a 4th grade teacher at Keyes Elementary in Irving ISD. She was then fortunate to be selected for the district’s administrative leadership intern program, which resulted in an Assistant Principal position at Schulze Elementary. She continued to gain additional administrative leadership experience in Coppell and Keller ISD, before returning to Irving to serve the families of Barton Elementary.
Mrs. Gidden's educational background includes a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas-Arlington. She is married with two children attending college at the University of Missouri and Savannah College of Art & Design.
Amanda Diehl, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Diehl started her career in Irving as a student teacher at Stipes Elementary. She was then hired at Brown Elementary as a second grade teacher. During her time at Brown, she also taught fifth grade, served as both an Interventionist and Academic Specialist before returning back to Stipes as an Assistant Principal
Mrs. Diehl received her bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University and her master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington. In her spare time, Mrs. Diehl enjoys spending time with my husband and their two children. Her husband and herself are former Irving ISD students and they are proud to be back in Irving. Mrs. Diehl’s husband teaches and coaches at Nimitz High School.
Mrs. Diehl feels truly blessed to be serving as an Assistant Principal at Stipes Elementary. She looks forward to supporting our students, teachers, parents, and community as we strive towards our goal of creating critical thinkers, leaders, and contributors in a diverse and competitive world.
Julia Peña, Assistant Principal
Entering her 18th year with Irving ISD, Julia Peña has served in the capacity of a fifth grade bilingual teacher, an interventionist and assistant principal. Ms. Peña is grateful for the opportunity to support parents and work alongside her fellow educators. She believes that all students can learn and be successful in school and in turn, life.
Ms. Peña earned her Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies and Masters in Educational Leadership from Texas Women’s University. She is a certified bilingual/ESL teacher and has an administrator certificate. Though she served in the classroom in her early years, she chose to use her experiences to positively impact her school in the administrative side of education.
Ms. Peña is happily married and has three sons. Her oldest son is an environmental engineer and her daughter-in-law works as a Special Education teacher in Arizona, her middle child is a junior at Singley Academy, and her youngest is a first grader at Stipes Elementary.
Ms. Peña looks forward to a fantastic 2019-2020 school year!
