  • Sharon Amaya, Assistant Principal

After working as a social worker for five years, Dr. Amaya became a pre-kindergarten teacher in 1998.  She also taught kindergarten and first grade in a Spanish Immersion program, as well as third grade. She states, “One of my greatest passions is reading, which led me to become a school librarian.”  After serving as a middle school librarian, she began her administrative career as an assistant principal in Arlington in 2007, and joined Irving ISD in the same position 2012. Dr. Amaya earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992, two master’s degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a master’s degree in Library Science from the University of North Texas.  Continuing her quest as a lifelong learner, she earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.) at Texas Wesleyan University.  She is also certified as a superintendent.  She says, “I am ecstatic to be where it all begins – early childhood. My goal is to ensure that every child at Kinkeade has an early childhood experience that provides a solid educational foundation and promotes a love for learning.”
