The Gifted and Talented Program focuses on the acceleration of subject content within each of the core academic areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science.
Teachers for the Gifted and Talented Program are trained professionals in the area of gifted education. All educators of the gifted and talented are required to complete the necessary college course-work that leads to the gifted endorsement from the State of Texas.
Students who exhibit advanced intellectual development in one or more of the core subject areas (i.e., language arts, sciences, mathematic, social science) are identified and selected to participate in the Gifted and Talented Program.
Research 4 Discovery provides independent learning experiences and research projects for gifted and talented students and young scholars. Your child will have
the opportunity to explore an area of academic interest in depth.
These projects come from the Gifted and Talented (GT) curriculum for the state of Texas, and provide the foundational independent study skills your child will need to continue through the GT program in Irving. The program will give students a structure, but it will be up to them to identify an important question to explore in at least one of the following areas: English language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science with interdisciplinary connections.
In the spring, our campus will host a GT Showcase for students to share Research 4 Discovery projects.
