April Richmond was born in Ft. Lewis, Washington and spent most of her childhood between Tacoma, WA, Irving, TX, El Paso, TX and Griesheim, Germany (she’s a proud Army Brat). After graduating from Irving High School she matriculated to American University in Washington D.C and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual Media Communication with a minor in Graphic Design. After earning her bachelor’s degree she moved back home to Texas and received a Master of Science degree in Advertising and Public Relations from Texas Christian University. Upon earning her master’s degree she decided to embark in the field of education. In the fall of 2005 April began teaching and coaching at Lamar Middle School, where she is currently the AVID Coordinator and Elective Teacher as well as the Yearbook Adviser. She is married and the mother to three beautiful children. In her spare time she enjoys traveling with her family, reading, and photography. When asked why she is in the educational field, this was her response, “I am in the educational field because young people are my passion. I love to build relationships with my students and watch them grow. Even if I only reach just one, hopefully more, but just the one and they are able to impart the knowledge and lessons I have shared with them to another person – then I have done my job. This was not the job I had envisioned for myself, but I truly can’t imagine doing anything else. I love my job and these last ten years have flown by way too fast!”
