Sandra Martinez Mour is a native of the Rio Grande Valley, where she began her musical career at the age of 12. She played cello with the Economedes High school Orchestra, South Texas Youth Symphony and All-Region Orchestras. As an adult, she has performed with various symphony orchestras around the state.
Sandra earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Baylor University where she performed with the symphony under the direction of Stephen Heyde, and the string orchestra under the direction of Dr. Michael Alexander. She furthered her studies of the cello with Dr. Gary Hardie. While at BU, she became a member of Mu Phi Epsilon.
Mrs. Mour has been teaching Orchestra in Irving ISD for 6 years and is currently working on her 7th year. Lamar Middle School Orchestras have been awarded the highest ratings at UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Contest, Sandy Lake Music Festival, Peak Music Festival, and Pride of Texas Music Festival. Her students regularly earn membership to Region XX All-Region Orchestras.
Sandra is currently working on her Master's in Education Administration from UT at Arlington. She serves as Region 20 Orchestra Middle School Coordinator and is a member of Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Orchestra Directors Association, and Texas Music Adjudicators Association. She and her husband, a music educator as well, recently married.
