Irving ISD Summer Reading
Irving ISD and Irving ISD Library Services Provide Resources All Year Long Including Summer Months!
Irving ISD and Irving ISD Library Services are supporting our students through readily available access to high-quality print and digital learning resources. We strive to instill a love of learning and reading in our community. Studies demonstrate that when students read and enjoy reading, they become more empathetic citizens, gain more content knowledge, and increase their language and vocabulary skills, all of which are factors in future career and life success.
What makes Irving ISD unique is that we increase student access to resources by providing free books for their home libraries during our Read Around Irving family read aloud event, and we jumpstart their summer reading journey with a take-home pack of 4-5 high-interest, high-quality titles per grade level, which equals 85,000 books for grades PK-7th!
We also offer a deep well of resources, including eBooks, eMagazines, databases, and much more to keep students growing and learning during the school year and the summer months. Throughout the summer months, we host Pop-Up Libraries at summer school sites to provide students with even more free, high-quality books for their reading enjoyment.
While there is no particular list that students are required to read from over the summer, be sure to check out our reading recommendations for each age level. Click on links to learn about the other reading and learning resources we provide for families.
The Irving Public Library (IPL) Summer Reading Logs are also provided. IPL is open all year long and has events planned to engage families all summer long.
