Middle School Programs
The following programs are available at all eight Irving ISD middle schools. Programs are open to seventh and eighth graders.
This course takes students through the steps in creating and designing video games, as well as controlling and managing robots and building bridges – all of which use technical skills. In the second semester, students will have the opportunity to develop projects that will displayed and judged during the annual district-wide Middle School Innovations Fair.
College and Career Readiness
In this course, students have the opportunity to explore Signature Studies programs offered at Irving ISD high schools. Students will develop a four-year high school plan and explore the college and career opportunities offered in the district.
In this course, students will identify a problem, determine possible solutions, conduct research and then select the solution. Not only will students research the market, but they will have the opportunity develop a business plan to market their idea and make your own “shark tank” presentation with the guidance of local business mentors. The skills needed to make this happen are the very ones that prepare students for careers in the entrepreneurial field, which will feed into the high school’s Entrepreneurship pathway.
