In the Irving ISD, we offer our middle school and high school students the opportunity to participate in Special Olympics.
Our vision is to improve the quality of life for our students with physical fitness, demonstrating courage and experience the joy of friendships and competition. Not only does this program have a positive effect on our Special Olympic athletes, but our peer buddies. Peer buddies are volunteers in the school that get involved in the program to help with practicing and events. All of our coaches are special education teachers that have volunteered their time to complete certification, attend trainings and train the athletes.
In middle school, we offer track and field opportunities and provide uniforms and all the equipment to practice for the track and field events. In high school, we not only offer track and field opportunities, but we also offer basketball. Our students can either practice individual skills or work together as a team. For more information, please contact Carlos Walcott at email@example.com
