  • What should I do if my child is absent from school?

    Students will need to submit a handwritten, signed note from a parent or doctor no later than 5 days upon returning. The note should include the date and reason for the absence.

     

    What are examples of an excused absence?

    Examples include absences due to sickness, healthcare appointment, college visit, family death or legal proceeding. A handwritten note or proper documentation must be submitted.

     

    When is a student considered truant?

    If your student is absent from school for 10 or more days or parts of days within a six-month period in the same school year, you are subject to prosecution, and your student is subject to a referral to a truancy court for truant conduct.     My child was expelled. What happens next?
