In the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC), students explore the intriguing world of civilian, industrial and military science while sharpening leadership skills. Students will discover the rich history of the military service and aspects of tomorrow's military technology and can earn physical education (PE) credit.

JROTC is not a military preparation program, is not associated with military recruiting and involves absolutely no military service obligation, although JROTC is beneficial for those interested in pursuing a military career.  Cadets can earn college credits and scholarships via participation in JROTC.

Each of the three traditional high schools have JROTC affiliated with a different branch of the military:

    • Irving - Marine JROTC
    • MacArthur - Army JROTC
    • Nimitz - Navy JROTC
