All Irving ISD Middle Schoolers to Have Device, Home Internet Access through Verizon Partnership
Verizon and Digital Promise are bridging the digital divide between home and all Irving ISD middle schools. Through a partnership, all Irving ISD middle-school students will receive an iPad as well as internet access through data packages provided by Verizon. In addition to free technology and access, schools receive extensive teacher training and support, along with the opportunity to engage in powerful teaching and learning that leverages technology in and out of the classroom. At the start of the 2019-2020 school year, de Zavala, Johnson and Travis middle schools will join Austin, Bowie, Crockett, Houston and Lamar middle schools, which launched the program in their schools in the 2017-2018 school year. “Irving ISD is thankful for this opportunity to enhance the learning process for our students and teachers and provide the highest quality of education,” said Magda Hernandez, Irving ISD superintendent. “This now expanded partnership with Verizon will prepare our students to be lifelong learners and responsible global citizens.” Read more in this news release.
