For the fourth time in five years, teams from Nimitz are headed to the national SeaPerch competition! Nimitz squads swept the competition at regional contest on Saturday, taking both first and second place. The Megalodon team, led by Jeremy Bogue with support from Victor Paz and Daniel Rodriguez, won first place - a remarkable achievement considering Jeremy was “flying solo” at the competition as his teammates were unable to attend. The Sea Lions team, led by Genesis Benavidez with team members Kimberly Gomez, Erwin Ventura and Josue Ruiz, captured second place. Both teams will compete at the national competition at the University of Maryland this June. SeaPerch is a national underwater robotics competition in which students are required to build a custom Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) capable of completing a series of challenges, as well as maneuvering through an obstacle course.
