Throughout his career, Tony Grimes has developed a passion for uplifting his community – whether it be through public service, participation in his church or education. He is a successful entrepreneur, president of the Irving-Carrollton NAACP, deacon at Antioch Christian Church, chairman of the Board for J&B Outreach and a member of the Irving Mayor’s Diversity Council and Irving Police Department’s Advisory Board.
As president of the Irving-Carrollton NAACP since 2002, Mr. Grimes has formed multiple partnerships throughout Irving and Carrollton and has worked diligently to increase membership and raise awareness for his chapter. Driven from a desire to prevent members of his community from falling victim to predatory lending practices, he has taught the FDIC “Money Matters” curriculum to reiterate the basics of healthy personal finances with his NAACP branch.
As a board member for J&B Outreach, Mr. Grimes has participated in several events including character-building presentations at Houston Middle School and donating winter clothing to Irving ISD students in need.
For his service, he has been recognized with the Texas State NAACP Torchbearer Award, the City of Irving Service Award, the Alpha Phi Alpha Golden Legend Award, a service award from Texas Organizing Project and the 2019 High Spirited Citizen.
