Christine Ruiz- Assistant Principal

Mrs. Ruiz is excited to serve as an Assistant Principal at Barton Elementary School.  Mrs. Ruiz began her career in Irving ISD in 2004 at Brown Elementary.  She served the students and teachers of Brown Elementary for 12 years in different capacities.  She taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade self-contained bilingual classes.  She served as the K-2 Literacy Specialist for four years, providing intervention for K-5th grade students, coaching for teachers, and facilitated in both trainings and professional learning communities. In 2016, she joined Townsell Elementary where she served as the Title I Academic Specialist.  Mrs. Ruiz is a lifelong learner and her favorite quote is “Grow People and Surround Yourself with People that Grow You Too”.

Mrs. Ruiz earned her Bachelors in EC- 4th grade Interdisciplinary Studies Bilingual Education from UTA at Arlington and a Master’s degree in Education Administration from UNT at Dallas.  Mrs. Ruiz is a product of Irving ISD as she attended Schultze Elementary, Bowie Jr. High, and Nimitz High School as a student.  Her father instilled in her to work hard and reach for her dreams. Mrs. Irene Hernandez, her third-grade teacher, was her inspiration to become and educational leader as Mrs. Ruiz always saw her as her role model.  

Mrs. Ruiz is family oriented and loves to spend time with her husband and pre-teen twin girls.   Family is one of her core values and when she is not at school she makes every effort to enjoy every moment with her family.
