Mika Tepfer, Assistant Principal

Mika Tepfer received her degrees from Dallas Baptist University in 2012 - a master's in educational leadership in administration and from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education.

Ms. Tepfer earned her educational certifications in principal leadership, peer assistance and leadership, math, biology, physical education, health, peer mediation, teen kleadership and drivers education.

Ms. Tepfer began her career in 1990 at Joshua High School teaching health and physical education and coaching volleyball, basketball, and track and field coach. She moved to Smithfield Middle School in Birdville ISD from 1991-95 as the head of girls athletics, and physical education and math teacher.

From 1995-1998, Ms. Tepfer worked in Denton ISD, as head of girls athletics and physical education teacher at Calhoun Middle School and then become the head volleyball coach and math teacher at Billy Ryan High School.

After taking off one year from the education field, Ms. Tepfer returned to a smaller school district and built the volleyball program at Grandview High School in Grandview ISD from 1999 to 2001 as head volleyball coach, geometry, physical education, and health teacher.  From 2001 to 2006, Ms. Tepfer worked at McKinney North High School as head volleyball coach and teacher of PAL (Peer Assistance and Leadership), geometry and algebra.

In 2006 to 2008, Ms. Tepfer needed to move back home closer to family, so she accepted a position at Richland High School as head volleyball coach, and PAL, Math of Models and geometry teacher. As luck would have it, she found a new position in 2008 at Irving High School as the assistant campus athletic coordinator, head volleyball coach and algebra teacher. After completing her master's, she had the opportunity to become an assistant principal at Bowie Middle School for two years. Then it was time for Ms. Tepfer to move back to the high school level and jumped at the opportunity when Ms. Gomez was hired as the head principal. This is Ms. Tepfer’s third year as an assistant principal at Irving High School. The students and teachers make #TigerNation a positive educational environment and the best place to be!
