Notice to Employees
You may elect to retain your common law of action if, no later than five days after you begin employment with Irving ISD or within five days after receiving written notice from Irving ISD that the employer has obtained worker's compensation insurance coverage, you notify Irving ISD in writing that you wish to retain your common law right to recover damages for personal injury. If you elect to retain your common law right of action, you cannot obtain worker's compensation income or medical benefits if you are injured.
Due to regulatory changes, effective, September 1, 2013 certain narcotic prescriptions written under Workers’ Compensation will need pre-authorization approval prior to having the prescription filled at the Pharmacy. However; if prescribed and filled within the first 7 days from injury date, pre-authorization is waived.
