News and Features

  • ja Junior Achievement Day

    Employees from the Citi visited the classrooms to teach lessons on economics.  The Junior Achievement program inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a global economy.  From Kindergarten-5th grades programs foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills.  The program inspires children to dream big and reach their potential.  We are grateful for the time these volunteers give our students every year!

    ASJ will host summer school from June 6-30 from 8:00AM-12:00PM.  Breakfast and Lunch will be provided to all students who attend.  Bus transportation will be available for students who qualify to ride during the school year.  For more information, please contact the school office.

    Now is a great time to purchase books for summer or for gifts!  ASJ is hosting a 'Buy One, Get One Free' Book Fair!  Students are able to purchase books May 23 - May 25 in the library. Proceeds go to the ASJ library fund.

  • Kinder ROund Up Kindergarten Roundup and Registration Night

    Do you know a little one who should be attending Kindergarten at AS Johnston next year?  The child must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2016. New students to our district who did not attend Pre K in IISD are welcome to come register for Kindergarten on the evening of Tuesday, May 17 from 4:30 - 6:00 PM.  Students who attended Pre K in IISD are welcome to visit the Kindergarten classrooms and meet the teachers during that same time!  Click here for more information.

  • Jaguar Choir CD Jaguar Choir Album For Sale!
    The Jaguar Choir is selling their latest choir album for $3.00 in the office. All proceeds will be used to support the Jaguar choir and the music program. Please support our Jaguar Choir and buy their new cd from the office.

  • Spirit Sticks Spirit Sticks Incentive Program for Good Citizens
    Students recently received a Johnston Bag Tag to hang from their backpacks.  The bag tag has a keyring attached to it so students can earn 'spirit sticks' to hang from it. Spirit sticks are embroidered tags students can collect!  These tags are awarded for attendance, punctuality, reading, writing, math, science, good cafeteria behavior, etc. Teachers and other faculty members can award students with spirit sticks!
