  • Jaguar Choir CD Jaguar Choir Album For Sale!
    The Jaguar Choir is selling their latest choir album for $3.00 in the office. All proceeds will be used to support the Jaguar choir and the music program. Please support our Jaguar Choir and buy their new cd from the office.

  • Concilio Begins First Steps to Becoming a Committed Parent

    Parents, Come join us on March 31 for our next Concilio class.  The classes along with childcare are free.  Thursday's session will review and discuss the first steps in becoming a committed parent.  Choose one of the following Thursday sessions to attend:  8:30 AM or 6:00 PM, March 31st.  7 additional classes covering other topics will be held on upcoming Thursdays!

  • Kim and Nuno iCreate Showcase Featured Winner

    Congratulations to Mrs. Nuno and Kimberly!  Kimberly's video comparing natural resources to manmade resources was selected as a Featured Winner. We couldn't be more proud of the two of them for their hard work!

  • Concilio  The Concilio of Dallas
     A.S. Johnston, in conjunction with the The Concilio of Dallas, is proud to present  Parents Advocating  for Student Excellence or PASE.  The classes will be held in English  and Spanish in different rooms on  campus.  Choose from one of two class times:  8:30 AM or 6:00 PM every Thursday.  Free child care will  be provided.  The program consists of eight informative sessions and the ninth is a graduation  ceremony.  The ninth day is only an evening event for the celebration of completion.  For more  information, please call the office at 972-600-7700.

  • Wacky

    Wacky Wednesday
    To celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday, ASJ will get "wacky" on Wednesday, March 2nd. Staff and students are invited to dress in silly, mismatched clothes or have  wacky hair (NO Colored Hair, Please). Students may wear different colored or  patterned clothes, clothes worn inside out or backwards, mismatched shoes or  socks or crazy hair (gel, bows, pigtails...) Students may NOT wear costumes,  masks, hats, wigs, colored hair, or painted faces.

  • Friendship Day Friendship Celebrations
    Johnston will host Friendship Celebrations in all classrooms on February 12, 2016.  1st grade celebrations will be from 1:15 - 1:45 pm.  All other grades will celebrate from 2:00 - 2:30 pm.  Teachers will send out letters to parents soon regarding the celebrations.

  • Jennings Technology Creations
    Throughout the building Johnston students are using iPads, laptops and computers to create projects for the IISD iCreate Next Generation Showcase.  Students in Ms. Jennings classes are creating comic strips demonstrating their understanding about themes.

  • Tan Students Technology Integration
    Students in Miss Tan's fourth grade class are learning about research and writing.  The students use classroom laptops to gather information and then use their writing skills to create a presentation for their class about what they have learned.  Throughout the building teachers are using technology to engage and enhance student learning.

  • Literacy Night Literacy Night
    Johnston Elementary School hosted a Literacy Night for students and their families.  Families visited classrooms and explored and read books together, as well as played literacy games. Families also visited the computer lab and learned how to access free ebooks for students of all levels.

  • Math and Science Night Math Night
    Johnston families joined staff for a Math and Science evening of exploration.  Students completed projects and challenges as family member supported their learning.  Working together was a fun way to spend an evening at Johnston Elementary School!

  • Spirit Sticks Spirit Sticks Incentive Program for Good Citizens
    Students recently received a Johnston Bag Tag to hang from their backpacks.  The bag tag has a keyring attached to it so students can earn 'spirit sticks' to hang from it. Spirit sticks are embroidered tags students can collect!  These tags are awarded for attendance, punctuality, reading, writing, math, science, good cafeteria behavior, etc. Teachers and other faculty members can award students with spirit sticks!

  • Book Fair Winter Book Fair
    Students of all ages are excited to select books to purchase from the Book Fair! The Book Fair will be open to parents from 3:00-7:00 PM, Tues., December 1. Parents who cannot attend tomorrow, may send money  with their child on Wed. or Thurs., Dec. 2-3. Please remember to send enough money to cover the 8.25% sales tax. Thurs., Dec. 3 is the last day for the Book Fair.

  • dental Hygienist Dental Hygienist Visits First Grade and LIFE
    LIFE students and first graders were visited by a dental hygienist who demonstrated how to clean teeth properly.  With the help of a stuffed dinosaur, the students were able to learn how to brush and care for their teeth.  We appreciate the dental students from Sanford Brown College in Dallas who worked with our students!

  • Lunnch Lunch Visitation Schedule
    Parents are welcome to eat lunch with their children on the assigned days:  Wednesday: Kinder and 3rd grade students, Thursday: 1st and 4th grade students, and Friday: 2nd and 5th grade students.
