The library will no longer be open Thursday evenings for Family Night @ the Library. We have had to re-evaluate the libraries extended hours because of poor attendance. It is not in the best interest of the school district and the personnel needed for the extended hours for the minimal attendance we have had this year.
Evenings with scheduled events, the library will be open 30 minutes prior to the start of the event for families to check out books together.
Parents are welcome to come to the library to check out during the school day from 7:30 – 3:30. Our library is also available 24/7 online at bit.ly/KECSLib.
Please feel free to contact Mrs. Betts, our librarian, if you have a need for a username / password for any library services or if you have any questions or concerns – email@example.com.

Last night the Kinkeade Outdoor Learning Committee (along with three parents and two students) presented our proposal to the Irving Schools Foundation Shark Tank. We asked them for $6,600 to fund the Outlast Blocks (see attached picture) for our Outdoor Learning Committee. Not only did they award us with the FULL amount, but also added $200 for the sign that will go on the shed. It was a very exciting evening. Thank you so much to Twila Allen and Patricia Payne for attending the Grant Writing meeting and signing us up for the Shark Tank and the awesome committee members (Patricia Payne, Susie Diaz, Amy Johnson, Vivian Lari, Elizabeth Quasebarth, Twila Allen, Sharon Amaya, and Michelle Martin) for all of your great ideas, your time and your support this first semester and last night. Thank you also to Gabby and Anastasia and their parents for being there and for Ms. Allen’s class who we videotaped asking for the materials.
Best selling author, James Patterson pledged $1.75 million to libraries and Kinkeade Early Childhood School Library was selected as a recipient of a portion of the funds. Mrs. Betts applied for the grant requesting funds to purchase library books and books for the Families Reading Together Program. The school library received a check for $5000 from Mr. Patterson and a matching $5000 from Scholastic in bonus points. You can read more about the grant and see a full list of recipients here.
We are so proud of Ms. Amanda Minturn who was named Irving ISD Teacher of the Month for December. She was recognized during the December 14th Irving ISD School Board Meeting.
