  • Lamar Lioness Club

The Lamar Lioness Club reaches out to the community. We try to make the world a better place by building confidence in each other, reaching out to help our community, and bringing awareness to create a kinder world. We are an all girls group who work together at building a stronger and more connected world through love and not hate. The Lioness Club is full with goofballs. So far we have made posters to bring awareness to Childhood Cancer and Autism. We visit and help in the LIFE classes as peer tutors. In December we put together a competition throughout our school in order to collect nonparishable food items. We collected over 1200 items for St. Luke Catholic Church food pantry. This past Saturday, the 14th, we were asked to help represent Lamar Middle School at the Go Irving ISD event. In doing so, we worked to spread joy and positivity by asking our guests to describe what they love about themselves and a wish for the world. In the words of Gandhi, we strive every day to “Be the change we wish to see in the world” and spread our message as far as we can reach. Take our survey:https://tinyurl.com/LMSlioness

  • Lioness Club Gives Back

The Lioness Club worked extremely hard collecting, boxing, and loading items collected for a donation to help families in need during the holiday season.  There was close to 1,200 items donated and all went to the food pantry at St. Luke Catholic Church who was more than appreciative to all of Lamar.  Thank you to everyone else who helped! It truly feels better to give than receive, and our girls had fun!

  • iPad Parental Tips and Tricks

How can I check my child’s use of cellular data?

Students receive 5 GB of cellular data each month.  The reset date is the 29th of every month.  To avoid using all the data, always connect to Wifi whenever available.

How to check:  Settings > Cellular data > Current Period (the max period per month is 5G)

How to see what apps/programs my child is using the most on his/her device?

Following the steps below will allow you to see what apps/programs use the most battery on the device.  For example:  Google classroom 25%, Notes 15%, Nearpod 2%.   If you notice that your child is using apps like Youtube, Instagram, and Twitter the most, please remind him/her that the iPad is used to support learning and academics.

How to check:  Settings > Battery > Battery Percentage switch to on > Check battery usage for last 24 hours and last 7 days

  • Destination Imagination

Lamar sent one small group of students to this year’s Regional Tournament, held in Haltom City this past Saturday.  This small group of 6th graders have been working extra hard, twice a week, since December to prepare themselves for the tournament. This year, they chose the Improv Challenge, where they placed 5th out of all the middle level teams who performed (a total of 16 teams).  Lamar’s Nerdy Birdy Trio was the only team to place in the Middle Level Improv Challenge in Irving ISD!  In addition to placing, this team also won the Spirit of DI award for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and dynamic imagination!
