Dear Lamar Parents/Guardians,
In Irving ISD, your child’s health and well-being are always our top priority. With flu season upon us, this is a good opportunity to connect with parents and share preventive information.
We are pleased to report we have not seen widespread cases of the flu across the district. As always, we will continue to do everything possible to maintain a safe, healthy learning environment for all students and staff. Although schools are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized regularly, our custodial staff is being extra vigilant disinfecting surfaces such as door handles, desks and cafeteria tables.
Please join our efforts at home by reminding your child about the importance of handwashing and practicing good hygiene. If your child is ill and has a fever over 100 degrees, please allow them time to recover before returning to school.
It is not uncommon for flu-like symptoms to be found in someone who is experiencing allergies or the common cold, rather than the flu. These symptoms may include:
- sore throat
- runny or stuffy nose
In any case, we always advise parents to monitor their children and seek medical attention when necessary.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s school nurse for assistance. We are here to support you. Together, we can keep every child happy and successful in the classroom and beyond.
