  • The Texas School Guide 2016 School Rankings have now been released.

J.O. Davis Elementary School was rated a ranking of A!

Children at Risk (CAR) publishes an annual report on school rankings that is intended to serve as a guide for parents, educators and community members on the performance of local schools. Schools are measured in 4 areas:

    • Student Achievement Index – Performance on STAAR Reading and Math tests
    • Campus Performance Index – An adjustment of achievement indicators to eliminate bias toward campuses with low percentages of economically disadvantaged students
    • Growth Index – The improvement over time on standardized test scores in Reading, English, and Math
    • College Readiness Index - graduation rates, SAT/ACT participation rate and scores, and
    • AP/IB participation rate and scores

Once measurements have been completed, the school receives a letter grade in which the school rank reflects where the campus falls within the north Texas area or the state, respectively, in comparison to other elementary, middle or high school campuses rated by CAR. The CAR letter grades are based on the relative position of the school within the ranking system. Overall, 22 of 32 Irving ISD campuses rated improved in the letter grade in 2016. J. O. Davis Elementary received an “A” ranking.

    Way to go, Team Davis!
