Ms. Valtierra is entering her 26th year in education in Irving ISD. She is a proud product of Irving ISD. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her master’s degree from Lamar University.
Having started at Gilbert in 2000, Ms. Valtierra has served many roles on this campus. She taught 5th grade for 12 years and 2nd grade for 3 years. She became an interventionist in 2015, the Academic Specialist in 2016, and served as an Assistant Principal since 2018. She kicks off her first year as principal this year and cannot wait to hit the ground running!
When Ms. Valtierra is not at school, she loves to watch college football (Hook ‘Em Horns!) on Saturdays and the Dallas Cowboys on Sundays! She enjoys spending time with her two sons, Joshua and Gabriel, and with the rest of her family as well.
She is honored to have the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and families of F. M. Gilbert in this new role. She is committed to building relationships with all stakeholders and ensuring the success and well-being of each individual student. Ms. Valtierra is deeply invested in this school community and is looking forward to the Best Year Ever!
