After graduating with a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies from UNT, Lindsey Sanders began her career with Irving Independent School district at Schulze Elementary. Sanders taught a variety of grade levels and eventually moved into the Instructional Specialist position. In the summer of 2009, she traveled to Mumbai, India to train teachers working in slum schools about reading instructional strategies and English acquisition. Her experiences there pushed her expectations and hopes even higher for students in Irving ISD.

After obtaining a Masters of Educational Leadership and Management, Sanders moved into an assistant principal role at Lively Elementary School in 2012 and moved in 2014 to John Haley Elementary to serve as an assistant principal. She served as the principal of John Haley Elementary from 2015-2022 and is currently principal of Johnston Elementary in Irving ISD. In addition, Mrs. Sanders is a Certified Trauma and Resilience Practitioner and Trainer.

Katherine Young began her career in Florida as a middle school content area teacher. She transitioned to a district behavior resource teacher after four years in the classroom and then went back into the classroom as a special education English Language Arts and math teacher at an elementary campus.

Ms. Young and her family moved to Texas in 2005 and was hired at Johnston Elementary as the inclusion/resource teacher. In addition, she served as a curriculum writer and trained teachers on effective teaching practices.  She was also a mentor to several student teachers.  

Ms. Young spent four years in Arlington ISD as an instructional coach and RTI facilitator beginning in 2016.  In February 2021, she came back to Johnston Elementary as an assistant principal.  Ms. Young's passion is to work collaboratively with the community, parents, teachers, and staff so that at school students experience the best learning environment possible. 

Ms. Young holds a bachelor’s degree in special education from the University of Florida, a master’s degree in special education from Florida Atlantic University and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Texas in Arlington.
