Adriana Arrieta - Principal
Principal Arrieta began her educational career in 2005 as a teacher at Caillet Elementary in Dallas ISD. In 2014, she joined Irving ISD as an instructional interventionist at Townsell Elementary. She became the assistant principal at W.T. Hanes in 2015 where she cultivated relationships with students, staff, and families to work alongside her. She is dedicated to ensuring high quality instruction for every student and will focus her efforts ensuring that all staff members have the necessary resources and professional development to provide learners with a top tier educational opportunity.
Principal Arrieta graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas. She received her bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University and her M.Ed. in Urban Leadership and Education from the University of Texas at Austin. Principal Arrieta is honored to be the W.T. Hanes Principal.

Kaleen Hernandez - Assistant Principal
Mrs. Hernandez has been an educator for 16 years and is excited to be a part of the Hanes Elementary Family this school year!
She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in 2006 from the University of North Texas and received her Master’s degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2015. She recently earned her Principal as Instructional Leader certification and looks forward to serving the educational community in a greater capacity. She has a musical background in piano, voice, and percussion. She is also a TX Rangers and Dallas Cowboys fan. Mrs. Hernandez is blessed to spend her time outside of work with her three young children, super supportive husband, and spunky maltese poodle.

Maria Wagoner Benjamin - Assistant Principal
Maria Wagoner Benjamin has been a passionate educator since 2014. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, she grew up in Houston and began her career as an ESL Teacher in Channelview for Language Arts and Social Studies in grades 6-8. During that time, she was gifted the opportunity to support students who recently arrived in the United States. That experience ignited her passion for serving students and their families and she brought her knowledge to Bastrop as an ESL Instructional Specialist in 2018. During her time in Bastrop, she developed curriculum for newcomer students as well as supported the district’s teachers with training and coaching. In 2020 she relocated to Dallas to be closer to family. After briefly serving as a district Social Studies specialist in Dallas ISD, she is excited and honored to be able to serve our students at W.T. Hanes.
Maria received her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Language from Texas Tech University in 2010. She received her Master of Education in Education Administration from Texas A&M University in 2020.
