History of Brandenburg Elementary School
Brandenburg opened its doors to children in November, 1966. Brandenburg was the 13th elementary school to be built in Irving. It was the first school in Irving to be built with a library and to be fully air conditioned. Brandenburg Elementary was named after John J. Brandenburg. Mr. Brandenburg was very active in the Irving community. He was a Masonic Lodge Master, President of the Irving Chamber of Commerce, and he retired from Irving Bank and Trust.
In March of 1993, Brandenburg moved into a brand new building. It was built on the same grounds as the original school. The original building was torn down.
