NeTassha Rendόn, Principal
I am thrilled to be the principal at Brandenburg Elementary! I’m blessed to lead a staff who achieved an “A” rating with 5 distinctions from the state of Texas. I look forward to working alongside parents, staff, and the community to ensure all our students continue to be successful and love learning. I cannot wait to see the growth and accomplishments our school will continue to achieve as we work together this year!
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Bilingual Education from the University of North Texas and a Master’s degree in Leadership with a focus on Dual Language from the University of Texas at Arlington. Additionally, I have recently completed my PhD in Curriculum & Instruction at the University of North Texas. I’ve served in several different educational capacities: bilingual teacher, curriculum writer, college professor, academic specialist, and administrator.
Most importantly, I am the proud mother of two Brandenburg cougars.

Mr. Mendoza is a graduate of Irving ISD and returned to begin his teaching career with Irving ISD. Mr. Mendoza wanted to give back to where it all started, he wanted to thank all the teachers who helped him learn the English language and what better way than to become a teacher where it all started.
Mr. Mendoza attended John Haley Elementary School, Lee Britain Elementary School, Bowie Middle School and graduated from Nimitz High School.
Mr. Mendoza earned a Master of Education in leadership and policy studies from the University of Arlington at Texas, where he also earned his undergraduate degree.
Gilberto Garcia, Assistant Principal
I am very pleased and excited to have the opportunity to serve Brandenburg Elementary! I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of North Texas and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. Shortly after receiving my bachelor’s, I started my teaching career as a fifth-grade math teacher in Dallas Independent School District. A couple of years later, I joined Irving Independent School District as a 5th-grade Bilingual math and science teacher at John Haley Elementary. While working for IISD, I have been a department chair, Teacher of the Year at John Haley, team lead, math interventionist, and administrative liaison.
I love the students of Irving and will do what is needed to ensure our students learn to their highest potential. I look forward to working with you as a team to help all the students of Brandenburg meet their goals!
