Deeadra Brown, Principal
Deeadra Brown joined the MacArthur Family as their principal in 2017, after serving previously as an assistant principal for the campus in 2013. Ms. Brown also served as principal for Cardwell Career Preparatory Center during the 2014-2015 school year. Before coming to the district, Ms. Brown served in Amarillo and DeSoto as a teacher, coach and eventually an assistant principal. This year, Ms. Brown wants to give all students the opportunity to be college or career ready and to have students feel safe and enjoy their high school years.
Ms. Brown earned her associate's at South Plains Junior College, her bachelor's at Cameron University and her master's at Texas A&M Commerce. When she is not supporting her students at campus events and games, Ms. Brown enjoys watching reality TV, reading, traveling and watching sports.
O.T. Thomas, Associate Principal
O.T. Thomas has been a part of the MacArthur Family as an associate principal since 2010. Previously, he taught business in Fort Worth ISD and served as a football, soccer and baseball coach for Arlington ISD. Mr. Thomas is looking forward to spending this school year supporting the Mac staff and helping students to achieve their greatest potential.
Mr. Thomas earned his bachelor's in finance from the University of Texas at El Paso and his master's in education from New Mexico State. In his spare time, Mr. Thomas enjoys working out, watching sports and spending time with his family.
Margie Perez, Assistant Principal
Margie Perez joined the MacArthur Family in 2015 as the Dean of Students and transitioned into her current role as an Assistant Principal. Previously, Ms. Perez served as an AVID Coordinator and AP Spanish teacher at Garland High School. She has also served as a Spanish and ESL teacher at Charlestown Academy in South Carolina and as an Academic English Coordinator at Universidad Industrial de Santander in Colombia. This year, Ms. Perez looks forward to building strong relationships with the Mac faculty and staff and supporting them in everything they need. She is eager to equip teachers with the necessary tools and support to improve student achievement.
Ms. Perez earned her bachelor's degree in languages (majoring in Spanish & ESL and minoring in French) at Universidad Industrial de Santander. She also earned her master's degree in educational administration at Texas A&M Commerce. During her free time, Ms. Perez enjoys reading and traveling.
Shonda Thompson, Assistant Principal
Shonda Thompson became a part of the MacArthur Family in 2017 after serving as the administrative liaison at Cardwell. Ms. Thompson has been an educator for twenty years, serving in Arlington, Bryan and Dallas schools. This year, she is looking forward to helping all students at MacArthur become better readers and writers.
Ms. Thompson earned her bachelor's from Grambling State University and her master's in education administration and policy studies at the University of Texas at Arlington. During her free time, she enjoys reading, writing and traveling.
Brian Nelson, Assistant Principal
Brian Nelson joined the MacArthur Family in 2018 as an assistant principal. After eight years in Arlington ISD as a teacher and two years in DeSoto as an assistant principal, he is excited to be a part of the MacArthur Family. This year, he looks forward to helping students reach their full potential and continuing to improve lives by serving others.
Mr. Nelson earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of North Texas, a bachelor's in biblical studies from the Southern Bible Institute and a master's degree in special education from the University of North Texas. When he is not working, he enjoys reading, attending church, watching sports, working out and spending time with his family.
James Voronin, Assistant Principal
James Voronin joined the MacArthur Family in 2018 as an assistant principal. Previously, Mr. Voronin taught English before deciding to move into school administration. With 27 years of experience in a variety of districts, including El Paso, DeSoto, Kennedale and Arlington, he is excited to join the team at Irving ISD. Mr. Voronin is passionate about helping students succeed, and he looks forward to building relationships with all students at MacArthur.
Mr. Voronin earned a bachelor's degree in education from Texas Tech University and a master's degree in educational leadership from the University of Texas at El Paso. In his free time, he enjoys working out, cooking and spending time with his family, friends and dogs.
