Choir

  • Choir is a course of study which develops musical concepts and skills related to choral music. Students learn to sing and perform music. No previous experience is required, however advanced choirs exist to continue to develop the students with experience from middle school. Instructional priorities include musicianship, critical listening, cultural growth, basic music theory, creative selfexpression, rehearsal and concert etiquette, self-discipline, responsible citizenship, effective communication, problem solving, and production of quality products. A variety of musical styles are performed. Concert season is ongoing and provides students an opportunity to continue musical growth and experience music literature. Individual, small, and large ensemble concepts and skills are emphasized. Participation in a performing group offers the students the opportunity to experience a high level of teamwork, develop a high degree of personal responsibility, and acquire leadership skills.
