Irving ISD is the ONLY district in Texas to offer an entrepreneurship curriculum experience to every 5th-grade student. A recent Gallup Student Poll showed that Irving ISD had a higher rate of students planning on opening their own business compared to the U.S. overall. The Irving Develops Entrepreneurial Achievers (IDEA) program is an 18-week program is designed to help teams of students navigate through the process of becoming entrepreneurs. Every IISD 5th grader has an opportunity to explore their interests in starting a business and gain experience in collaboration, communication, creativity, and teamwork.
With the work of their teachers and staff, we have covered concepts such as communication, marketing, planning, budget, inventory, unique proposition value, collaboration, and being part of a team. We are so proud of the students and their efforts. Here are a few photos:
First Student will manage and operate all Irving ISD student transportation services as part of a five-year contract beginning August 1, 2018. Dallas County Schools will continue to provide services to the district through the end of July. Irving ISD students and families can expect bus transportation to continue during the transition.
