The Elise Walker Outdoor Learning Center (OLC) was opened in 2016 to give students of all ages within Irving ISD the unique opportunity to experience science instruction outside the classroom.
Irving ISD students participate in hands-on activities at different outdoor stations located on the trails. OLC presenters guide the students through the trail system and facilitate the outdoor learning experience.
OLC involvement with the science community includes hosting events for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, the Texas Association of Environmental Educators, and the North Texas Master Naturalist program.
