Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a multi-tiered framework for behavioral supports. In Irving ISD we focus on focus on providing support at different levels of intensity based on what the student needs.
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports are research-based strategies used to effectively teach, encourage, and reinforce positive behavior in and out of the classroom. A positive approach to working with students include a focus on prevention and early intervention. MTSS campus and/or district teams meet to analyze student data and identify ways to continue building and maintaining a positive school climate.
The Irving ISD MTSS Behavior Toolkit provides information regarding the process for movement through the tiers of intervention for campuses needing to provide behavior support for students. Each tier within the process offers suggested strategies that may be implemented and includes additional information and videos of selected interventions. The behavior toolkit website also provides resources for data collection and recommended forms that campuses may use to collect data.
