The Deputy Superintendent of School Operations oversees the District's overall Facilities and School Support Services Division, the Employee Services [HR]Division, and the Legal Services Department. The Deputy Superintendent of School Operations also assists the Superintendent Schools in providing leadership and supervision in the District's day-to-day operations.

Juan Carlos Martinez, Ed.D.

Deputy Superintendent of School Operations

Dr. Juan Carlos Martinez has been in education for twenty-six years, and for the last twenty, he has proudly served Irving Independent School District and its community.

Dr. Martinez earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas. He holds two Masters’ Degrees in Bilingual/ESL Education and School Administration, respectively, from Texas A & M University-Commerce. He completed his Superintendent Certification through the University of North Texas in Denton and his Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Leadership at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He is also currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at SBTS.

Dr. Martinez’s research interests are focused on the areas of Organizational Change, Leadership, and Theology. He is deeply committed and invested in implementing organizational health and transformational leadership practices, which he considers vital factors in attaining successful organizational and academic achievement in education.
