VPN Access

  • What is VPN Access?

VPN or Virtual Private Network extends the district's network across a public network (the Internet) in a secure manner. This enables users to send and receive data as if their device were directly connected to the district’s network. This allows any of our applications that you are only allowed to access at work (i.e. eSchoolPlus/MUNIS), anywhere with Internet available.

    Who has VPN Access?

Principals, Assistant Principals, Counselors, and Directors and above are automatically authorized to have VPN Access if they wish. Anyone else must submit a request with supervisor approval to be granted VPN Access. Everyone must submit a request for VPN access regardless if they are automatically authorized or not.

    When does VPN Access expire?

Your VPN access will expire on July 31 st every year. All access past July 31 must be granted by submitting a new VPN Remote Access Request. This practice has been implemented according to best practices for network security.

VPN Set Up

  • Step 1: VPN Access Request Process

  • Step 2: Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (Duo Security)

  • Step 3: Setup the VPN Client (GlobalProtect)

Troubleshooting

  • If you have problems using VPN please make sure you read the following.

    • New devices require a new enrollment in DUO security.
    • Multiple devices can be registered for a user in DUO Security.
    • Accounts locked due to login errors will automatically be unlocked after 90 minutes.
    • Duo Multi-factor authentication must be approved prior to each connection to the VPN.
    • Cisco Any connect is no longer supported and you will not be able to access the VPN using this software.
    • Please submit a work order to Technology for assistance with VPN issues that are not covered in this section
